Product description

SENA NAUTITALK OPEN
The Sena Nautitalk Open is a unique headset. Instead of traditional speakers, the headset uses a bone conduction transducer. Through vibrations, sound is transmitted directly to the user while allowing full awareness of surrounding sounds at the same time. This makes the headset highly suitable for crew members or users who prefer not to cover their ears while maintaining direct open-line communication.

The headset features an ergonomic design with a flexible headband and weighs only 41 grams in total. This allows it to be comfortably worn for extended periods without causing irritation. The Nautitalk Open includes a built-in battery with a maximum talk time of approximately 4 hours. The entire unit is finished with a UV-resistant coating.

In addition, the Nautitalk Open can directly connect to all other Sena products and communicate over the Mesh network. Within this network, an unlimited number of users can participate in a single conversation with a choice of 6 different channels. Group Mesh provides a private connection for up to 24 users simultaneously.

The microphone is equipped with advanced noise suppression and is designed to pick up sound directionally from one side. By flipping the microphone upward, it automatically mutes itself to prevent unwanted communication. The headset carries an IPX5 water-resistant certification, meaning it is resistant to heavy rain and splashing water but must not be submerged.

What is the Mesh Intercom Network?
Mesh Networking creates nearly unlimited connections. Mesh is a self-optimizing and self-healing network that continuously searches for the best available connection and automatically reconnects when a device loses connection. Mesh allows two-way communication, meaning there is no need to press a push-to-talk button while speaking.

Which version of the Mesh Intercom Network does the Sena Nautitalk Open use?
The Sena Nautitalk Open communicates by default via the Mesh 3.0 network. However, the headset is backward compatible and can be switched to the Mesh 2.0 network through the Sena Marine App. This allows communication with older Sena models as well.

What is Open Mesh?
With Open Mesh, a nearly unlimited number of users can connect within a specific area. Because the headsets communicate with one another, the signal is relayed between devices, extending the communication range.

What is Group Mesh?
Group Mesh for private sessions supports up to 24 participants on a closed channel. A total of 9 different channels are available. This allows 9 separate groups to communicate privately within the same area. During work, users can easily switch channels using the buttons on the headset.

Hands-free communication thanks to full-duplex technology
Whether on a vessel or during work, keeping your hands free is just as essential as maintaining an open communication line. Being able to respond without pressing a button is equally important. Thanks to Sena’s full-duplex communication technology, users can communicate completely hands-free.

Is the Sena Nautitalk Open water-resistant?
The Nautitalk has an IPX5 certification for fresh water and has passed a 72-hour saltwater stress test. The IPX5 rating is an official international standard, meaning the headset is resistant to heavy rain, excessive sweat, rinsing under a gentle running stream, and splashing water.

However, the headset is not fully waterproof. Never allow the device to fall into water.

Bluetooth Intercom
The Sena Nautitalk Open does not feature a 4-way Bluetooth intercom.

Two-way radio
The Sena Nautitalk Open cannot be connected to a two-way radio.

Battery life
The Sena Nautitalk Open offers approximately 4 hours of talk time. The built-in 300 mAh battery has a charging time of approximately 2.5 hours and cannot be removed from the device. Charging is done using a standard USB Type-C charging cable.

Easy operation with the Sena Marine App
Connect the Sena Nautitalk Open to the Sena Marine App and customize your headset to suit your needs. Adjust available settings such as Mesh Intercom functions, channel frequencies, speed-dial options, default volume levels, and many other features depending on the headset type. This ensures optimal performance at all times. The headset can also be updated through the same Sena Marine App.

How does Sena headset pairing work?
Pairing only needs to be configured once. The next time the headsets are switched on, they will automatically reconnect using the saved settings, allowing immediate communication. The pairing and connection process is described in detail in the included user manual. Please read it carefully. Operation is controlled using the buttons on the headset or through the Sena Marine App.

Communicate with your own Bluetooth headset on the Sena Mesh Network
Using the Meshport Blue (not included), you can connect your own Bluetooth headset, such as Apple AirPods, to the Mesh Intercom Network. Pair your headset with the Meshport Blue, which then connects it to the Mesh Intercom Network. This allows non-Sena headsets to communicate with colleagues over the Mesh network.

Extend your range!
Besides functioning as an adapter, the Meshport Blue can also operate as a repeater. By setting the Meshport to repeater mode, it relays signals from the Mesh Intercom Network. You can position it in stairwells or building corners to effectively extend the network range, even across multiple floors or basements.
