The correct pulley is essential in many systems. The versions with ball bearings run very smoothly even under tension. A larger wheel also ensures better weightdistribution and bending ration on the rope. Some pulleys are equipped with a recoil brake and are therefore suitable for hoisting systems. Especially with pulleys with fixed flanks, it is important to use a carabiner for mounting that is symmetrical and wide enough not to pinch the flanks.
