WASHING INSTRUCTIONS CHAINSAW TROUSERS

How should I wash my chainsaw trousers or chainsaw tunic?

Read the care label

The advice below applies to a large part of the chainsaw clothing that Safety Green sells. However, always read the care label of your chainsaw clothing to be sure.

How long do chainsaw trousers or a chainsaw tunic last?

This depends entirely on how often you wear the trousers or tunic, the working conditions and the maintenance. Greasy substances such as petrol, diesel, chainsaw oil or resin can damage the protective layers and cause them to stick together. A hot exhaust from your chainsaw can also damage the fabric. When this is not visible on the outside, the layers on the inside may still be affected. We therefore recommend washing your protective clothing after use to keep it in top condition. In addition, check your clothing yourself for damage after use.

Below you will find washing and drying instructions for the protective clothing.

On which wash programme can I wash my chainsaw trousers or tunic?

We recommend washing your chainsaw trousers or tunic at a maximum of 40 degrees. Before washing, close all zips and Velcro fastenings. Wash similar colours together to prevent colour run. Use a mild (liquid) detergent and no fabric softener! Use a delicate wash programme, such as the wool cycle. Spinning is allowed on some chainsaw clothing at a maximum of 400 rpm or less. We advise against spinning your chainsaw clothing.

Can chainsaw trousers or a chainsaw tunic go in the dryer?

No! In a dryer the fabric becomes very hot. This causes the fabric of the protective layer to shrink, and that can have adverse effects on the protective performance of your clothing. This applies not only to the dryer, but also to drying clothing on a radiator/heater.

How do I dry my chainsaw trousers or chainsaw jacket/tunic the right way?

The right way to dry your chainsaw clothing is to let it air-dry, preferably on a washing line. Try to keep the shape of the trousers by hanging them by the legs or the top on the line. For a tunic you can hang the sleeves and collar in one line. Do not dry the clothing next to or on a heat source such as a radiator or dryer.

Should I wash my SIP clothing before first use?

The answer is Yes, you should wash your SIP clothing before using it for the first time! This is also stated in the user manual. SIP uses starch to help keep the trousers in good condition during storage. This starch can reduce the chainsaw protective performance of your trousers. Therefore, you should wash the trousers before first use. Please follow the specific washing instructions provided in the user manual supplied with your SIP-PROTECTION clothing.

Can I repair my chainsaw clothing, trousers or tunic?

Chainsaw clothing consists of several layers. Only the outer layer may be repaired; the inner layer is the protective layer. During a repair of the outer layer you must not stitch through the inner layer. When in doubt, always return to our store for professional advice. Repairs are at your own risk.
