Prusik cords are mainly used in tree care, because they often work with a so-called "double rope system". The prusik cord is placed on the rope as adjuster and the end of the rope is placed back. A Distel or Valdotain tresse (French prusik) are commonly used knots that function best with a pulley underneath.
