The history of Haix

Haix was founded in 1948 in Mainburg, Bavaria (Germany). The name comes from founder Xaver Haimerl, who combined the 'X' from his first name with the first letters of his surname. What began as a small workshop for hiking and work boots changed dramatically in the 1990s when Ewald Haimerl, master shoemaker and deputy fire chief, designed functional firefighting boots for his colleagues. From that specialist approach, Haix grew into an international manufacturer for fire brigades, emergency services, police and professionals in tough outdoor jobs. Production grew from fewer than 100,000 pairs a year in 1999 to more than a million pairs in 2015, with factories in Bavaria and Croatia and attention to high ecological and social standards.
