Edelrid through the years

The history of Edelrid begins on 13 June 1863 in Isny im Allgäu, Germany, when the company started as a braiding and cord factory. The brand went on to write climbing history: in 1953 Edelrid developed the world's first mass-produced kernmantle rope, in 1964 came the dynamic climbing rope that laid the foundation for modern rope technology, and in 1965 the brand introduced the first climbing harness. Each of these innovations still sets the standard today. Edelrid is now part of the VAUDE group and, with more than a century and a half of experience, continues to lead the way in developing safe equipment for climbing, mountaineering and professional work at height.
