Read the Washing instructions on your label
The following advice generally applies to most of the chainsaw clothing sold by SafetyGreen. However, always check the care label on your chainsaw clothing to be certain.

How Long Does a Pair of Chainsaw Trousers or a Tunic Last?
This entirely depends on how often you wear the trousers or tunic, the working conditions, and the maintenance. Greasy substances such as gasoline, diesel, chainsaw oil, or resin can damage the protective layers, causing them to stick together. The hot exhaust of your chainsaw can also cause damage to the fabric. Even if the damage is not visible on the outside, the layers inside may be affected.

We recommend washing your protective clothing after each use to keep it in top condition. Additionally, always check your clothing for damage after use. Below are washing and drying instructions for protective clothing.

What Wash Cycle Should I Use for My Chainsaw Trousers or Tunic?
We recommend washing your chainsaw trousers or tunic at a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius. Before washing, close all zippers and Velcro fastenings. Wash similar colors together to avoid color bleeding. Use a mild (liquid) detergent and avoid fabric softeners! Use a delicate wash cycle, such as the wool wash. Some chainsaw clothing can be spun at a maximum of 400 RPM or less. However, we advise against spinning your chainsaw clothing.

Can I Tumble Dry Chainsaw Trousers or a Tunic?
No! The fabric can become very hot in a dryer, causing the protective layer to shrink, which can negatively impact the protective function of your clothing. This also applies to drying clothing on a radiator/heater.

How Should I Properly Dry My Chainsaw Trousers or Tunic?
The correct way to dry your chainsaw clothing is to air dry it, preferably on a clothesline. Try to maintain the shape of the trousers by hanging them by the legs or the waistband on the line. For a tunic, hang it by the sleeves and collar in a straight line. Do not dry the clothing near or on a heat source such as a radiator or dryer.

Can I Repair My Chainsaw Clothing, Trousers, or Tunic?
Chainsaw clothing consists of multiple layers. Only the outer layer may be repaired. The inner layer is the protective layer. When repairing the outer layer, you must not sew through the inner layer. If in doubt, always return to our store for professional advice. Repair is at your own risk.
