BlackBird by ART: SRT and MRT/DRT Climbing Techniques in One Device
Designed for both SRT and MRT/DRT climbing, the BlackBird allows you to switch between these systems without any additional tools. The climbing rope does not need to be removed from the device. Thanks to its unique construction, the BlackBird ensures identical descent behavior in both configurations. The device can be opened with the push of a button and can be attached mid-line without needing to detach it from the harness.

Compatible with a wide range of climbing ropes
The BlackBird comes with two different brake cams. Cam set A is suitable for ropes with a diameter of 11.2 – 11.9 mm. Cam set B is suitable for ropes with a diameter of 11.9 – 13 mm. This makes the BlackBird compatible with a wide variety of climbing lines. The device is suitable for both left- and right-handed users.

Friction booster for smooth descent in any situation!
A ball-bearing pulley ensures smooth operation, even with minimal slack. The BlackBird is equipped with an adjustable cam that can be rotated to increase or decrease friction, depending on the conditions and the climber’s preference.

Alignment and attachment
By connecting the BlackBird directly to a chest harness with a carabiner, it moves upwards automatically during ascent. The integrated swivel ensures optimal alignment at all times. The upper carabiner attachment is positioned opposite the user, allowing the rope to be easily fed into the device. This attachment point can also be used for V-rigs and 3:1 or 4:1 pulley systems.

Rescue for two persons
The BlackBird is certified for two-person rescue operations on both single rope (SRT) and double rope (DRT). Note: Rescue operations should only be carried out by trained professionals experienced in tandem descent.

Replaceable wear parts
All wear parts are replaceable and available on request through Safety Green B.V.
